The Tamia estate in Lazio consists of over 2,500 trees, and the family have been deeply involved in promoting and improving agricultural development in the region since the 1920s. The rich volcanic soil is full of minerals particularly suited to olive growing, and the high levels of polyphenols found in Tamia are a testimony to the quality of the olives produced there.
The 2025 harvest oil is so different to last years oil. We pick up herbaceous notes of spearmint, fennel and tarragon which leave a very pleasant (but not overpowering) long lasting bitterness. A really lovely, versatile, oil.
The producers decided to soften some of the sharp bitter edges of previous years by as they believe that while olive oil judges love the sharp and aggressive notes, the average consumer appreciates it a little less.
The increased rainfall over the summer allowed the olives on the tree to mature slightly faster, and instead of picking the fruit even earlier off the trees, they left it for slightly longer in order to bring out a profile which is greener and more herby, but less grassy.
To compliment this, they increased the percentage of Frantoio olives in the blend which brings out more herbal complexity.
We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.
