At the forefront of Armatore’s mission is sustainability. They are selective about their fishing techniques; they will not source from overexploited stocks, they support the local fishing community and ensure their packaging is fully recyclable or biodegradable. The paper that they use is approved by the FSC indicating that it comes from wood from responsibly managed forests. Their packaging, as well as aesthetically interesting is designed to inform the consumer, allowing them to make the sustainable and informed choice.
The Anchovies and Red Tuna are only fished during certain periods: the anchovies from 15th March – 15th October and the red tuna from 25th May – 30th June. They do not use aggressive fishing techniques to ensure that they respect the marine life for future generations.
The illustrations on the packaging pay homage to the community of local fishermen and their tattoos. A nod to the people who make this wonderful company what it is.
