Of all the olive oil competitions, The New York International Olive Oil Competition is one of the largest and most respected, and the results for the 2021 edition are in. We are proud to announce that many of our suppliers have had their hard work recognised with their oils achieving Gold and Silver Awards!
Ravida Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a 2021 Gold Award Winner. We have been proudly selling this oil, produced at the Ravida family-owned mill, La Gurra in Menfi, Sicily, for almost 30 years. Laudemio Frescobaldi, the delicious emerald-green bold and complex oil from Tuscany also received a Gold Award, as did our Marques de Valdueza Extra Virgin Olive Oil, from Extremadura, Spain, a carefully selected blend of Arbequina, Picual, Hojiblanca and Morisca olives. A Silver Award was also given to Valdueza for their Merula, the estate’s second oil. It is well-balanced, versatile with a gentle, spicy, black-pepper finish, and beautifully packaged.
Other winners at this year’s competition include Sindyanna for their Extra Hopeful, Tamia for their Bronze, and Colonna’s brand new and limited edition Molensis XXV, all of which won Silver Awards.
The NYIOOC say that making great olive oil ‘takes determination, skill and obsessive attention to detail’; we are delighted that so many of our suppliers have been awarded such high praise!
