BRINGING RICE CULTIVATION BACK TO SOUTHERN ITALY AFTER 200 YEARS

In a first for over 200 years, the Bifulco family are growing rice on the plains of the River Sele in the province of Salerno. In an area where rice was once commonly grown, new cultivars have been planted and are thriving. Hera nei Campi, with help from agronomists at Universita di Napoli Federico II have developed novel cultivation methods that use less water and fewer resources than traditional rice production. Micro-irrigation and the use of cold greenhouses reduce evaporation, and rotating the rice with the baby-leaf salad that is commonly grown in the area enriches the soil, reducing the need for fertilizers.

The result of all this innovation and dedication: three delicious and aromatic rices in exceptional packaging.
