Trebbio

Trebbio Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the result of the Corsini family’s project to revive the old Medici villa, Villa Medicea il Trebbio, in Mugello, Tuscany, now a UNESCO world heritage site.

Clemente Corsini and his family are dedicated to farming in a way that protects the land, using organic and biodynamic methods to yield exceptional produce. Trebbio is made using a blend of local olive varieties found on the Tuscan estate surrounding the villa, including a cultivar that was once believed to be extinct. The Italian National Research Council have now recognised this olive and renamed it Dianora del Trebbio, for Clemente’s daughter, who is highly involved in the project.

Each variety of olive is harvested early and cold pressed at their mill straight after picking.  The resulting monovarietal oils are blended to create a peppery and intense, typically Tuscan, olive oil.

The symbol of Trebbio oil is the biblical image of a dove carrying an olive branch in its beak, an image that brings to mind ideas of light, serenity and peace. This is precisely what Il Trebbio, as one of the projects of the Corsini family, wants to represent. Trebbio is brand new to the UK market and available exclusively from The Oil Merchant in beautifully designed 500ml bottles.

A message from the Corsini Family: “With the help of our team and the local community, we are fulfilling our dream of giving back to nature, hoping in turn to inspire similar initiatives. As a family, we remain rooted in our Tuscan heritage while projecting innovatively into the future.”
